Brow Patterns and Mapping

Lesson Goals

You will learn the basics of mapping brows before a microblading treatment and the different patterns of eyebrow cosmetic tattoos that can be achieved with microblading

Here are three popular brow patterns in microblading and a brief description of each:

  • Natural, feathered brows: This style creates a natural, soft, and fluffy appearance by mimicking the look of individual hairs. The strokes are created with a microblading tool in the direction of hair growth, resulting in a natural and seamless look.
  • Bold and defined brows: This style creates a bold, defined look by using stronger, thicker strokes. The brows are often drawn with a thicker, straighter shape and filled in with solid color.
  • Structured and geometric brows: This style creates a structured, defined look by using a combination of thick and thin strokes. The brows are often drawn with a more angular or geometric shape, creating a more defined and structured look. The strokes are filled in with solid color to create a defined, sculpted appearance.

    Natural Feathered Brows

Natural, feathered brows in microblading are created by mimicking the look of individual hairs. The microblading artist uses a hand-held tool with tiny needles to create fine, hair-like strokes in the direction of natural hair growth. This creates a soft, fluffy appearance that looks natural and seamless.

To create natural, feathered brows, the first step is mapping. Mapping involves determining the shape and symmetry of the brows, and marking the starting, arch, and ending points. This helps the artist to create a customized shape that is in proportion to the face and enhances the natural features. During mapping, the artist also considers the natural growth pattern of the client’s hair and makes adjustments as necessary to ensure the best result.

Here are the steps for achieving natural feathered brows in microblading:

    1 Mapping2 Pigment Selection3 Numbing
The first step is mapping, which involves determining the shape and symmetry of the brows. The artist will mark the starting, arch, and ending points to create a customized shape that is in proportion to the face. The next step is to select the appropriate pigment color to match the client’s skin tone and hair color. Before the procedure, the artist will apply a numbing cream to minimize discomfort.
    4 Microblading5 Healing6 Touch-Up
The artist will use a hand-held tool with tiny needles to create fine, hair-like strokes in the direction of natural hair growth. This creates a soft, fluffy appearance that looks natural and seamless. After the procedure, the artist will provide aftercare instructions to promote healing and prevent infection. The brows will appear darker and more intense initially but will lighten as they heal. After 4-6 weeks, a touch-up appointment may be necessary to add additional pigment and refine the shape as needed.

    Bold and Defined Brows

To create bold and defined brows, the artist uses the microblading tool to fill in sparse areas and shape the brows to the desired shape and thickness.

    • Bold and Defined Brows are achieved by using a microblading pen with a row of tiny needles to deposit pigment into the skin.
    • The technician carefully maps out the desired brow shape to create a natural-looking result.
    • The pigment is applied in small, hair-like strokes

    Structured and Geometric Brows

Structured brows refer to eyebrows that are well-defined and have a clean, sharp shape. Geometric brows, on the other hand, are eyebrows that have a defined shape with angular lines, often creating a more modern and bold look. Both structured and geometric brows are achieved through techniques such as threading, waxing, tweezing, or filling in with makeup. The goal of both types of brows is to create a symmetrical and well-groomed appearance.
