Lesson Goals
You will learn about the cosmetic materials used in a microblading procedure, including microblading pigments, topical anesthetics, i.e. numbing agents, and various aftercare products you can assign to your clients.

Microblading Pigments
Microblading pigments are used to add color and definition to the eyebrows. They can range from light to dark, and it is important to choose a shade that matches the natural hair color and skin tone of the client. The correct choice and application of microblading pigments is key to achieving a natural-looking and long-lasting result. In the following courses of this series you will explore PMU color theory and color correction in more detail.
It is important to use high-quality pigments that are approved by regulatory bodies to ensure safety and avoid any adverse reactions. It is also crucial to properly store the pigments in a cool and dry place, away from direct sunlight.
Numbing Products in Microblading
Topical anesthetics are used in microblading to reduce pain and discomfort during the procedure. They can come in the form of creams, gels, or sprays and contain active ingredients such as lidocaine, prilocaine, or benzocaine. These ingredients work by temporarily blocking the nerve impulses in the area, reducing the sensation of pain.
It is important to use a numbing product that is approved by regulatory bodies and to follow the manufacturer’s instructions carefully, as overuse or misuse can lead to adverse effects.

Aftercare Products in Microblading
Aftercare products are essential for maintaining the results of microblading and ensuring the healing and care of the skin after the procedure. These products are used to promote healing, prevent infection, and keep the brows moisturized and looking their best. Some common aftercare products used in microblading include:
- Antibacterial ointments: These are used to prevent infection and promote healing.
- Healing creams: These are used to hydrate and soothe the skin and reduce itching and redness.
- Sunscreen: This is used to protect the brows from sun damage and fading of the pigment.
It is important to follow the aftercare instructions provided by the microblading artist and to avoid any activities that may irritate the skin, such as excessive sweating, soaking in water, or applying makeup to the brows. Proper aftercare can enhance the longevity and appearance of the microbladed brows, making it an important aspect of the microblading process.
